10/05/2017 - Welcome to the new School Headteacher!

At the beginning of term the children and staff welcomed Mr Rourke to Pre-School as their special guest for the morning. Mr Rourke is the new headteacher of Lord Deramore’s School following the retirement of Mrs Powley.

Wendy enjoued showing Mr Rourke around Pre-School and explaining all that goes on. Mr Rourke then spent time looking at the children’s work and chatting with them before reading The Gruffalo.

A great time was had by all! We very much look forward to working with Mr Rourke in the future.

17/03/2017 Goodbye Mrs Powley

The Pre-School children take Mrs Powley (the soon to retire  head of Lord Dearmores) goodbye gifts and a super hand-print card!  The children then enjoyed a tour of the new School and singing in the hall with Mrs Powley.

Goodbye and thankyou Mrs Powley!  We had a great visit!!

Christmas Parties

Pre-School Sessions:
All children in our 3+ sessions are invited to the Older Children's Christmas Party on Friday 16th December (normal session time for drop off please collect at 11:45am).  Even if this is not your child's normal session they are welcome to attend. We ask for all to sign up the week before so we can estimate numbers.

There will be a surprise visitor (Ho Ho Ho) with a small gift for the children. We ask for party food to be brought in on the day and a list of food items will be available the week before the party.  Note: We will be having fun and games in the School hall so shoes should be suitable for running in!!  Party clothes welcome but remember they will get hot chasing balloons and playing the 'Four Corners Game'.

Early Starters:
Will be having their own party in their room during their last session on Tuesday 13th December. There will be a special visitor!  Note: to ensure joy at the appearance of the 'visitor dressed in red with a large beard'... we ask parents/carers to return early to be with their child

Pre-School has MOVED!  After an incredible effort from staff, committee and Lord Deramore's school, Heslington Pre-School has moved to our new home in the Portakabin.  We are sad to be leaving the school building, and take lots of memories with us, but we are very glad to be staying on the school grounds.  The new space will allow us to make use of two rooms simultaneously so we can run Toddler and Early Starters sessions alongside Pre-School sessions. 28/08/16

Pre-School had a fabulous time at the Christmas Fair run by Lord Deramore's PTA on Friday 4th December. We had an excellent Raffle with lots of lovely prizes donated by parents and friends of the Pre-School.  As usual, there was a Teddy Tombola, and for the first time this year - 'Knock Santa Down the Chimney' and 'Hook-a-duck' provided entertainment to our many visitors.  Many thanks to everyone who helped to make this event so special by donating their time, surplus teddies, and raffle prizes!  Thanks also to Wendy and her team for decorating the room beautifully and helping out on the night, and to everyone who came to visit our stalls. 05/12/15

 Friday 10th July
 2:45pm - 4:30pm
Pre-School celebrated its 50th Birthday with an Afternoon Tea Party on Friday 10th July in the Pre-School Room and Playground!  Everyone was welcome, and we were lucky enough to be joined by Charlotte, one of the founding members of the Pre-School (see below for a photo of her meeting the current Chair, Kerrie).  We were so excited to announce the results of our very popular cake design competition, and everyone enjoyed looking at the fabulous entries displayed around the room.  There were prizes for the top designs in each category (Pre-School/Early Years; KS1; KS2), and one lucky overall winner (Mim Pearcy - see below) received her cake design as a real cake - made by our judge Mummy Maskill's Makes (click here to be taken to her website).  We were all impressed with the beautiful design, and how cleverly it was turned into reality!

In addition to the Afternoon Tea, there were Games (including a fabulous horse race which the children could compete in - run by one of our wonderful grandparents), Freebies (playdough & perfume), Colouring, and plenty of toys under the gazebo!
