Making fresh play dough then letting the children experience it when it is still a little warm. Their expression when touching it when it is warm for the first time is fascinating and rewarding!

Counting everything from toes to rainbows!

Becoming a dinosaur, fairy, frog or anything in play with the children.

Drinking many imaginary cups of tea or cakes baked by budding imaginary bakers.

Dramatic renditions of stories.

I believe children play best when...:

The environment is provided for them to play safely.

When they have settled well and are able to explore.

When learning is play, and play is fun.

Specialities:

I love to draw pictures for the children to colour or paint.  I have drawn numerous pictures for the display walls to go alongside the children's amazing pictures.  I drew the aliens for the children out of the book 'Aliens in Underpants' but I found it hard to keep up with demand as the children loved them so much.

I believe children play best when...:

They are happy and secure in their environment.  The children are given endless possibilities to play, during structured and non-structured opportunities throughout the session.  We very much encourage each and every child to communicate verbally or non-verbally during play, and their thoughts and suggestions are a valuable asset to enhance their play further.  By listening and responding to the child's individual interests it allows them to take ownership in their play and learning experiences.  Any communication during play is valued and responded to appropriately.

Level 2 in the Children and Young People's Workforce

Level 3 in Playwork

Working towards Level 5 in Management and Leadership in the Children and Young People's workforce

Specialities:

I enjoy helping children with craft activities in a supportive manner which enables them to do their own work. I love seeing the pictures and patterns each child creates.

I enjoy reading stories in the book corner. The children love to guess what is going to happen next. I soon have a whole group of children gathered round a book eager to know what will happen in the end.

With my calm and relaxed nature, I am able to convey a positive attitude to both parents and children when children join us and are settling in. Once a child is settled it is lovely to see how happy they can become !i love sharing what the children enjoy doing with their families.

Likes to play:

I love playing outside whether it be running around and playing tig or balancing on the giant tyre. The children love to be active and so do I!

I believe children play best when....

They are settled, happy and having fun! Our setting provides a safe and relaxed environment where children can express themselves in lots of different ways. I enjoy watching the children as they come out of their shell as they learn and develop during their time with us.

CACHE Level 3 NVQ in Early Years Care and Education

NVQ Level 4 in Management

Specialities:

I find story telling and circle time is great for opening up little minds, as it gives children the chance to talk about personal experiences and feelings either in a group or one on one.

I like show and tell as it’s a great way to encourage a child’s interest in a particular topic and as almost anything goes – it’s a chance for children to think ‘outside the box’ a little and invite their friends to come into their own little world.

Likes to play:

I really enjoy messy- sensory fun, watching the children explore the recourses on offer, giving them the opportunity to develop and improve their gross and fine moto, co-ordination and concentration skills. I also enjoy junk modling, letting the children use their imaginations to create fabulouse creations.

I believe children play best when....

They are happy and secure in a safe, friendly and supported environment, with exciting and stimulating resources to keep them active and engaged.
